Equity book (Sumter District, S.C.), [ca. 1851].

Record of "Receipts to be taken by John B. Miller (if dead by his Ex[ecut]ors & c) or his successor in the office of Commissioner in Equity for Sumter district." Includes index to "List of Bonds turned over by John B. Miller or his Ex[ecuto]r as Commissioner in Equity for Sumter district. So. Car." Miller died in 1851 but he documented his work in this volume for his successor; table of contents lists the variety of cases handled by Miller; entries document guardians, payments for care of minor children, and other long-term financial transactions and obligations, including several dating to first quarter of 19th century through others scheduled for future payment in mid-1850s.
